That is a pretty nice setup, great video.

I'm kinda surprised you're using sprint evdo as an uplink. How long of a delay buffer do you use to compensate for connection instability? (connection drops, packet loss, etc)

We generally don't have too much of a problem with dropped packets and/or connections dropping.

It would cost too much to bring in a SDSL connection or even an ISDN connection for the event, and usually the WiFi at the location is overloaded. So it is an acceptable solution most of the time.

When we were in Austin during SXSW, there were so many people using the wireless networks that the only one that had any usable performance was ATT's HSDPA network, because it was new at the time and there weren't many devices using it. Now the iPhone 3G uses that, so it will likely be swamped at events as well.

I have noticed that lately the performance of Sprint's network has really gone down - related to the influx of new users I'm sure.

Yeah, can only squeeze in so many data only carriers in the licensed spectrum. Hopefully with the analog/digital switch over some of that 700/800mhz spectrum will open up for alternative data networks and costs will be pushed down. (ie verizon wanting $60/mo for 5 gigabytes of usage)

Love the music, nothing else like soma out there. I hope theres always a place for it.
