I listen to the salad daily and for the longest time my coworkers called it "elevator music". Now they need it to be playing for ambiance or work doesn't go as smoothly, take that! -- Blain -- Kansas City, May 8, at 9:33p
I would not make it through my work day without SoMaFM keeping me company. I play it just loud enough to be intriguing to my neighbors, who frequently pop by to inquire about what I'm listening to. Hopefully you'll see lots of activity from down here in Santa Monica! Donation to come. -- Louise Wainwright, May 8, at 5:24p

I'm not sure what I'd do without you guys. With the exception of a few, rare moments, radio in Montreal is craptacular. I finally just donated after being a dead-beat listener for several years. Thanks for being on the interweb. -- Andrea, May 6, at 12:43p
Hello soma fm crew, just found (yesterday evening) accidentally "lush" in WINAMP's shoutcast radio. Wondering about the nice voice i soon realized this type of quality i was listening to ( FOR FREE! ) hasn't been an accident in any way - it was you're standard. well, you got me by the first beat. i just starting subscription now because i cannot afford $50. Be shure i will when i can, and i will wear it with proud. damn, how can something get so addictive after just one night? beasts... -- Robert, May 5, at 1:48p
If I manage, to stop smoking and honky-tonking from my moms money, I gonna support you. -- Herr Suskason, May 5, at 12:01p

Yo, been listening since at least 2003. Secret Agent is the best damn station out there. That, Cliqhop and (more recently) Tag's Trip have been instrumental in me not failing out of college by giving me something nice and unobtrusive to grind on. Though oddly enough I've never liked Drone Zone and rarely listen to Groove Salad- you'd think I'd love those if I wanted unobtrusive. Keep on pumping out the terabytes! -- Chris, May 4, at 5:06p

I love BOOT LIQUOR! I thought I knew a thing or two about GOOD country music... Well, this show has proved I also have a little left to learn! The diversity of songs is great and I'm glad that some of the old great artists are featured, but not necessarily their monster hits (Jim Croce's "Speed Ball Trucker" for example this past hour). A great show. It shows exactly why commercial radio is so difficult to listen to. Thanks. -- Cyclone J, March 29, at 9:49a

I am really enjoying Sonic Universe. It's nice to hear some daring Jazz that isn't simply re-sampled Jazz riffs with a hip-hop beat. SG-11 South of Petite Roche, Arkansas is listening…. Even thou in a food for thought tasting/teasing stage with Stations Digitalis and Sonic Universe, could you please add them to the playlists/music recent zone. This would allow us to see what we missed which in turn guide us to dock into the station our current mind and body phase directs us too those Ear Candy electromagnetic waves. I seem to be missing some recently played sweet grooves channeling from them due to not being able to stay docked at all times. This would make it easier once I dock and surf via SOMAFM HQ which station to home into and kick it back with for awhile as you have done with the others… Peace and Keep Zee Faith... .. . -- Rainbow Traveller 2012, March 15, at 10:34p

Oh and, what i like about your channels is that they are like a pattern connecting all the songs together with a certain style, philosophy and mood. This gives it so much more depth. Like a stand alone complex. Compare it with a carpenter who has his own unique style against one who makes what would sell best. And since I like my life to be unique, have a certain intellectual depth and definitely not materialistically sporadic driving on impulses, SomaFM just naturally fits with this style of life. Thanks! -- Dries (Netherlands), March 12, at 9:44a

After reading some of these posts, i would like to add that - Rusty, sorry for all those idiots complaining about the 'commercials'. I don't mind them, never have. It's unfortunate that it is always the negative people that tend to speak out more than others. Just remember that for the few that don't like it, there are thousands of other listiners like me that don't mind and understand what you are trying to do. and we appreciate it! keep it up! -- AJ Avanti, March 8, at 12:44p

I have never randomly given money to anyone on the internet but I don't know what 'd do if the drone suddenly went off the air. I hope my small contribution helps. At first I didn't know if it was going to make me manic or soothe me. Seeing as how I'm not institutionalized, I guess it kept me sane. I work a night job at a hotel, It gets very quiet and the drone is just enough to keep me focused on my homework or reading. KEEP IT UP! -- Ryan from Mansfield, March 3, at 2:35a

THANK YOU for Groove Salad (and the other soma FM channels). They keep me alive each and every workday! I've been listening to Groove Salad for well over a year now (or years, it's been so long) and I love it!!! I'm already donating a small amount monthly, but I want you to know that when my financial resources increase a little I will start donating larger amounts. Could you also make a financial section on the site? I would like to see the number of listeners, bandwidth useage and donations... I now have NO IDEA how much it costs you to send your music to my ears. When there is a donation target on the site (maybe one of those nice bars) you might find it easier to get donations. And it's more transparent to the supporting community. My greatest nightmare would be that you can't afford to run the station anymore, and I would go to great lengths to prevent that from happening! -- Thijs Houtenbos, February 15, at 1:19a
Beatblender got me through college! Listen to it everyday! Make me happy!!=) Please people keep somafm alive! United States/bIRMINGHAM,Alabama -- kenny glover, February 14, at 2:44p

I stumbled upon this radio station yesterday while searching for spacy music I can relax to late at night when I'm on the net. This ended up as the first and the last search result I tried that day - I found exactly what I needed and more so - it is broadcasted at quality which the bigger stations reserve strictly for subscribers, stable and commercial-free! I have no idea how do you manage to cover the bills for such a service solely with listener support, but I have to say you guys deserve all the credit that you get. Thank you! -- IceDragon, February 12, at 11:53p
SG-11 South La Petite Roach, Arkansas is listening…..Upon docking onto Space Station once again seems I was occurring lots of drop outs whilst tuning in. This has been happen quite often. So, I hail the Engineer of this Space Station ship via visual display. The answer came back clear and the steps to follow… Upon a quick download update feeder I am now streaming cleaner and clearer…sweet…The electromagnetic waves transmissions are piping through at a Five Star rate… “Psychonavigator” and “When The Effect Came” was this a hint to me Rusty? Yep, the answer was there just need to download Orban aacplus plug-in…Gee whiz I really must have been into another one of my major Brainfart Dazes….Now kicking it back looking through my Stargate portal window and smiling…Five Star Salute to yaw Rusty….Peace and Keep Faith… -- Rainbow Traveller 2012, February 12, at 7:40p

Great job with these stations! I love them all. Wow. It's rather funny to read all of these posts. How can ANYONE complain that you play a 15 second clip asking for support every 60-90 minutes. What a bunch of whiny bitches. Anyways, I am a web designer and realize everything on the net cost someone, something... so keep up the good work and thanks so much for the music that inspires me actually do some work each day so I can pay for MY server. :P Peace! and Vote for Barack Obama! -- Mikey T, February 12, at 12:37p
Hey, I just realized something. Wouldn't it really tacky to post a message in the guestbook praising my own channel on SomaFM? Well, that's exactly what I'm doing now! Thanks for ME from staying sober long enough each day to keep Boot Liquor's mixed cocktail of music sloshing along. Hugs and kisses to Pirate Paul, too, regarding his kind message below. Acoustically, Boot Liquor is mixed to sound best when bouncing off the walls of a doublewide trailer. -- Boot Liquor Roy, February 12, at 9:54a
Hey guys, thanks alot for the t-shirt! Now I can spread the word even more in Copenhagen, Denmark. As always you're doing a brilliant job. There's never a day I don't discover something new via soma fm! Secret Agent has always been my favourite, but I also enjoy Groove Salad, Space Station Soma, Cliqhop and ocasionally Beat Blender. Just recently I discovered that Drone Zone in fact help cure my migraines!!! - El Vaquero Chiflado, Copenhagen, Denmark -- El Vaquero Chiflado, February 12, at 2:53a
Gah, your bits asking for money is really just as distracting as ads IMO. I noticed you re-recorded one though, with a voice that I find less whiny. Is it really only every 60 to 90 minutes, it feels really more often than that. May I suggest talking tech, asking your subscribers to use the 48kbps stream if they can -- or even talk about setting up relays that might motivate a sys-admin if s/he knows a lot of people listen to the stream(s) at his/her site? -- Louis, February 11, at 9:32p No no no we're not going to start talking tech between songs. You're going to have to live with our reminders to support SomaFM. Sorry. --rusty

WTF people? I've been listening for over an hour now, and have yet to "hear a commercial every 15 minutes wanting me to donate money"... Even if I did, it would be worth it. Nowhere else can you find the selection, quality, and volume of good music SOMAfm provides. Remember that commercial radio does not play this music - EVER! Like the age-old saying goes, don't cut your nose off in spite of your face. Enjoy what Rusty, et.al. have created, instead of pissing and moaning. Hey, if you don't want to hear the commercials, either don't listen, or donate a cool million to SOMAfm. -- Lance, February 9, at 11:40a
SG-11 South of La Petite Roche, Arkansas is listening… It’s Space Station docking time once again. Just got back from fishing (Catfish)...Nope, not even a bit this evening… But being here is lifting me spirit. How about some Alex Patterson special delights….Cheers Rusty… -- Rainbow Traveller 2012, February 8, at 8:41p
Ever since I discovered Boot Liquor, I've been blown away. I rebroadcast it on FM to every stereo in the house, on the grounds, and to neighbors. It plays 24/7 here. I turned a buddy across town onto it, and he is so happy he promptly sent off a donation to Soma FM. Deejay Roy and I must be some kind of kindred spirits. Besides my lifelong love for the big time Real Country, Country Rock and Bluegrass names, I also know half those SoCal artists and a few of the Texas artists who don't get airplay anywhere else. Thank you, thank you, thank you. -- Pirate Paul, Houston , February 8, at 6:23p

Listening via hotel broadband in Accra, Ghana. Been tuning in for a few years now, nice to have it around while traveling, makes anonymous hotel rooms a little bit more like home. Great place to learn about new artists, new styles... I don't think I'd have half the songs in my offline collection if it wasn't for SomaFm (thanks Soulseek, by the way). Hope we'll all grow old with SomaFM playing in the background! -- charl, February 8, at 5:22a
I've been a devout radio listener since before the Beatles. I was very much into the music of the late 1960s and early 1970s, and got to see many of the acts of that time. For me, however, music had a great re-awakening in the late 1970s with punk/new wave. I continued to listen to the dance music of the 1980s. By the 1990s, however, American radio had pretty much abandoned the World music scene. A few things surfaced occasionally. KROQ in Los Angeles introduced me to The Orb, for instance. I discovered ambient/trip-hop a few years ago on Monkey Radio and my interest in music was re-ignited. I've bought mote than 300 songs in the genre. These days you'll find me listening to SomaFM - Groove Salad! -- Frank Ostrander, February 7, at 5:43a

hi stop the begging please! this is what i find when searching the net for somaFM using google: SomaFM: Commercial-Free, Independent Internet Radio so? what do you need money for? your computer? your apartment?..you play the same music over and over again..so its not that! please get real..thanks -- ranj, February 4, at 3:01p Every listener costs us money, in both bandwidth and in royalties we pay to play the music. If you don't like our 15-20 second reminders that we need listener support once every 60-90 minutes, then please don't listen because you're costing us money. On the other hand, if you want to hear 3 or 4 minutes of commercials for erectile dysfunction and the latest sale at Walmart, we could do that instead. Except then we wouldn't like to listen to our own station, and what would be the point?
Greetings from the Lone Star State! Thanks so much for all the years of ambient grooves and lounge tunes! They both get me through the day at my highly difficult yet mundane tech job.
